From all the great new features in this addon, Quasar library integration support is the one we are the most excited about. There’s no need to install extra addons anymore, Quasar integrates with the library natively. In this tutorial we are going to configure Kodi Media Center to use Quasar’s library integration capabilities.

In the previous chapters we installed Quasar and some providers on Kodi, let’s start with the Quasar library integration process.

1. First we must make sure that Kodi is showing hidden files. Go to the Home Screen and select “System”. System option in kodi home screen
2. Then “Appearance”. Appearance option in kodi settings
3. Click on the “File lists” tab and enable “Show hidden files and directories”. show hidden files and directories setting for kodi file explorer
4. Now go back to Home Screen and select “Videos” > “Add-ons”. video addons option in kodi home screen
5.  Open the Context Menu on “Quasar” and select “Add-on settings”. (You can open the Context Menu by pressing the “C” key, right-clicking or long-pressing the selection)opening Quasar settings with Kodi
6. Click on “Library Path” under the “General” tab. Quasar Kodi library path settings
7. We need a folder to hold our Quasar library files. We’ll use Quasar’s own data folder which is in a different path on each OS, you can use a custom location if you want to. Navigate to the folder and press “OK”.

  • Windows: C:\Users\{user_name}\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\addon_data\\
  • Android: {storage}/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/
  • Linux: ~/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/
  • iOS: /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/Kodi/userdata/addon_data/
  • Mac: /Users/{user_name}/Library/Application Support/Kodi/userdata/addon_data/
  • OpenELEC: /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/

8. Confirm your new settings by pressing “OK”. Wait until you see the “Cache cleared” notification.setting quasar library path
9. You must add some items to your library so Quasar can create the proper folders for shows and movies in the selected library path. Let’s Open “Quasar”. Kodi Quasar Addon
10. Click on “TV Shows”. Quasar Kodi Addon Main Menu
11. Then “Most Popular”. Quasar most popular tv shows category
12. Choose a show and open the Context Menu, select “Add/Remove from library”. Adding show to library with Quasar and Kodi
13. Now it’s time to set up Kodi’s library to use the Quasar library path we selected earlier. Go back to the Home Screen and select “Videos” > “Files”.  video files option in kodi home screen
14. Select”Files”. video files option on Kodi
15.Then “Add Videos”. add video file to Kodi's library
16. Locate the Quasar library folder we’ve just set, you’ll see a new folder called “Shows” containing the TV shows you’ve added to the library. Click on the “Shows” folder and once inside it click on “OK”.lining quasar folder to kodi library
17. Double check the folder path and press “OK” to confirm. confirm quasar shows library path
18. We need to tell Kodi the type of content for this folder. Select “TV Shows” and press “OK”. Set folder content to tv shows
19. Press “OK” to refresh the library. Wait until the process is finished. refresh library path contents on Kodi Media Center
20. Go back to the Home Screen. You’ll see the new “TV Shows” section. If you want to add the “Movies” section, go to step 9 and repeat the process. tv shows section on home screen

Quasar will automatically check for new episodes of the shows in your library, to force a library scan restart Kodi. If you would like to use subtitles with your videos check our tutorial on how to enable automatic subtitles.

Library Integration: Quasar and Kodi Complete Guide Part 3

Hi, This works incredibly well. The only issue I have is that when I watch an episode this way, kodi doesn’t mark it as viewed, instead I have to do it manually. Likewise, if I stop an episode it doesn’t restart it from where I left it but from the beginning

Any workaround for this? It’s not a big issue, only a bit annoying

Hey, thanks for a great guide.

A curious case I’ve stumbled upon, however, when I did this integration for TV shows:
It seems that new items appear on the list when they are added to TVDB database – even though they’re not yet available for streaming – I get an error ‘no links found’

Any ideas on how to configure episoodes to appear only after at least one link found via any provider?

For TV shows it’s somewhat acceptable, but for movies, I have to add every single movie to the library manually? Really? Isn’t there a simpler, more automated way?

No, you add a higher-level menuitem, like ‘most popular’

No, is not working. Only to favorites, not in library.

Not sure of the best way to use this with Fire TV. Can’t set download path to SD or USB because Fire TV does not support NTFS. Tried setting the download path to my NAS drive over SMB but it does not work and although it will let me choose a higher file size it fills up the internal storage in an unknown location causing big problems.

However, I am very impressed with how well Quasar works. Extremely High quality movies with DTS audio streaming within seconds. I need Kodi on A Windows machine me thinks.

Hello everyone, Thanks for this great effort…. I have been using pulsar for a while now, however; it stopped working last night, so installed Quasar. However, I am having some issues with library integration, was wondering if someone else also faced the same issues, or might be able to help… 1. I actually want to use Favorite Subscription Addon, as it allows me to get all the movies from a category (like most popular) in my front page, and hence accessible by my cell phone remote. Makes it so much easier to look at the options on the phone, and just play movie or trailer from there. It was working fine with Pulsar, however; with Quasar, it works if I add each movie one by one. It gives error if I add a category of movies. 2. Weather I try with Favorite Subscription Addon, or Quasar inbuilt library integration, I… Read more »

Hi, sometimes you have to wait for Quasar to perform an automatic library scan to recognize all the new items, if restarting doesn’t work try waiting until next library scan.
Check the Pulsar Extensions thread on forums to report bugs on the Favourites Subscriptions addon.
