Quick Intro to Trakt
Trakt.tv is a free service that let’s you organize your favorite TV shows and movies and keep track of what you’re watching. It integrates with a lot of popular media center software and you can use it from your browser or smart phone. We are going to focus on two specific Trakt features: Collection and Lists.
Be aware that the Watchlist is meant to be a temporary list, this means that the movies and shows on this list will be automatically removed once they are marked as watched. On the other hand, the Collection and custom lists are persistent.
Try adding a couple of shows to your collection and check out the other features to familiarize yourself with Trakt. Once you are ready let’s switch to Kodi.
Specto and Trakt
Let’s set up Specto to use the Trakt.tv service, open Kodi and navigate to Specto Main Menu.
Aside from using the website or a smartphone app , you can interact with Trakt.tv directly from Kodi using Specto.
Accessing Trakt from Specto
You can get access to your Collection, Watchlist and custom lists using the My Specto menu.
Specto Trakt Manager
Specto lets you manage items from your Trakt Collection or lists using the Trakt Manager context menu.
Activate your Trakt account on all your devices with Kodi and Specto to keep them synchronized. Specto will take care of automatically mark your episodes and movies as watched on Trakt.
One last thing, even if Specto integrates flawlessly with the library and has Trakt support, there is no seamless integration between the library and Trakt. Importing your collection will only copy the items to your Library but it wont keep them syncronized. You can use the Official Trakt Addon to close some gaps but keep in mind the following:
Adding items to the library using the Add to Library function won’t add them to your collection unless you have the Official Trakt Addon installed. Deleting items from the library won’t remove them from your collection and you’ll also need to re-import your collection on other devices whenever you make changes to your Collection so they are reflected on the library.
