Jacktook Kodi addon featured image

Jacktook is a new Kodi addon that allows you to stream movies, tv shows and anime. This addon provides a simple interface but it offers powerful integration options.

Unlike other Kodi addons, Jacktook utilizes external indexers like Torrentio, Elfhoseted, Prowlarr, or Jackett to find sources, which can make the scraping process much faster and allows finer control over which websites get scraped. We’ll talk more about indexers later.

Jacktook also allows you to choose your preferred streaming method, via a Debrid service (paid) or via torrents (free). We’ll take a look at how to set up either of these methods with Torrentio, a public indexer that’s very easy to configure.

Jacktook is now installed, but we still need to choose an indexer and a streaming method.

2. Configuring Jacktook

Jacktook allows different types of configurations suited for different kind of users. To use this addon, you must select a streaming method and an indexer.

There are 2 streaming methods: cached-torrents via a Debrid service or normal torrents via the Torrest addon.

If you use a Debrid service, all torrents are cached by the Debrid servers and you access the files via HTTPS, which is encrypted by SSL/TSL. Your IP address is never exposed to the P2P network, but a premium account from Real Debrid is required.

If you use torrents, you connect directly to the P2P network using Torrest, a Kodi addon specialized in torrent streaming. Connecting to the torrent network is free but your IP address is exposed. Depending on your geographical location, you might need to use a VPN to protect your privacy.

Now let’s talk about indexers. There are 4 indexers available: Torrentio, Elfhosted, Prowlarr and Jackett. Torrentio is a public indexer while Prowlarr and Jackett need to be installed on your PC or on a seedbox.

Public indexers like Torrentio or Elfhosted are fine for most users since they scrape sources from a set of popular torrent websites and require no installation.

On the other hand, self-hosted indexers like Prowlarr or Jackett require installation and configuration, but allow you to control which websites to scrape in order to find sources. This is specially useful if you’re looking for torrents in other languages or if you have access to private torrent trackers.

Next, we’ll see how to configure Jacktook with Torrentio, using either Real Debrid or Torrest.

2.1. Jacktook with Real Debrid and Torrentio

Debrid services like Real Debrid or Pemiumize offer unrestricted access to file hosters and cached torrents. When using cached torrents your device will not connect directly to the p2p network, instead, the Debrid service will fetch the file and allow you to get it as a normal download.

In this example, we are going to setup a public indexer like Torrentio or Elfhosted to find sources and we’ll use Real Debrid to stream the sources as cached torrents.

1. Select Settings on Jacktook’s main menu.

2.2. Jacktook with Torrest and Torrentio

With this configuration, you can get sources freely available in the torrent network. In order to connect to the P2P network, you must install Torrest or Elementum, these addons allow us to stream torrents on Kodi.

Be aware that while you use torrents, your IP address and activity are publicly available. Depending on your geographic location, you may need a VPN to protect your privacy.

Please follow the instructions on the official Torrest Github page to install the repository and addon. Or read our guide on How to install Elementum on Kodi.

Once you installed a torrents addon, come back here and follow these steps.
